Close this page when you are done Did you know that all chemicals have to have signal words and symbols? The signal words DANGER, WARNING and CAUTION must appear in large letters on the front panel of the product if it is toxic. What is the difference of all these? The signal word is based not on the active ingredient alone, but on the contents of the formulated product. It reflects the hazard of any active ingredients, carriers, solvents, or inert ingredients. The signal word indicates the risk of acute effects from the four routes of exposure to a chemical product. (oral, dermal, inhalation, and eye). DANGER means the product is highly toxic. WARNING means the product is moderately toxic. CAUTION means the product is slightly toxic. What does all this mean? Chemicals are all around us in our daily life, they are in the products we buy everyday at the grocery store, hardware store and automotive store. etc You can find these signal words on products you use every day that are in your house right now. Go and look on a bottle of Bleach, it will have a DANGER signal word or look on your liquid clothes detergent, it will have a CAUTION signal word. Go and look around the house at the products you have...you will be amazed. The chemicals I use in my Pest Control business have the CAUTION signal word on them....most all chemicals in the pest control industry have the CAUTION signal word. Pest Control products, if used by the label are as safe as any of the other products you use with the same signal word. Pretty interesting don't you think... I bet you didn't know that? Knowledge is the key. |
